Arne Slot is the new manager of Liverpool. The club confirmed that Arne Slot, the manager of Feyenoord, will take over as manager of Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp’s tearful resignation.

Arne Slot will replace Jurgen Klopp, as Liverpool stated.

After the Reds and Feyenoord agreed on a compensation settlement last month estimated to be worth £9.4 million, the Dutchman will begin his duties on June 1.

According to reports, 45 Slot signed a three-year contract that would keep him at Anfield through June 2027. In his last press conference as Feyenoord’s manager last week, he announced that he would take over as Liverpool’s head coach. On Friday, he said, “I can confirm that I will become the trainer there next season.”

In addition, Klopp led Anfield in a hymn for the new manager on Sunday during his departure speech. However, Liverpool has formally stated that Slot will begin his new role in less than two weeks. As Liverpool’s manager, Slot’s first task will be to expedite preseason, with Reds players not participating in international competitions scheduled to return at the beginning of July.

After months of searching, he became the club’s top choice after Klopp’s scheduled exit. The German officially announced his departure from the team in January, but the Reds’ top management was notified at the end of 2023.

Several names were connected to Liverpool, including Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen, Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, and Roberto De Zerbi, the soon-to-be former Brighton coach. However, the Reds conducted extensive due diligence on each applicant and held off on deciding until they were satisfied with their top pick.

Inspired by his success at AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, where he led them to the Eredivisie title in 2023 and the Dutch Cup this season, along with coach of the year honours in both campaigns, Slot won that contest with Liverpool. They examined performance appraisal, market analysis, character and performance study, and data analysis, among other things.

Another key aspect was his desire to take the job

With Richard Hughes taking over as sporting director and Michael Edwards returning to a prominent role, the Reds feel Slot is a forward-thinking coach who shares many of their ideals. His lively, high-energy, and dynamic style of play is a good fit for the currently assembled team.

They have also been pleased by his capacity to excel despite the resources at his disposal and nurture Liverpool’s prodigious supply of youthful talent, some of which has been on show this season.

Naturally, when Slot advances to the Premier League and accepts the most significant role of his career thus far, all of that will be tested. However, other clubs in this country have shown interest in him. Tottenham and Chelsea reached out to him regarding management positions that were previously unfilled, but the Dutchman ultimately chose to remain in his native country for an additional year.

During his farewell address to Liverpool fans, Klopp encouraged them to support the next manager and even led a song regarding him.

“You welcome the new manager like you welcomed me. You go all-in from the first day. And you keep believing and you push the team. Change is good,” said Klopp. “No one tells you to stop believing. This club may be in the best position ever.

“We decide if we are worried or excited. We decide if we believe. We decide if we trust or don’t trust and since today I am one of you and I keep believing in you.”
