Leverkusen became the first team to go undefeated during the entire Bundesliga season. After defeating Augsburg 2-1 at home to extend their winning run in all competitions to 51 games, Bayer Leverkusen became the first team in Bundesliga history to go the entire season unblemished.
Victor Boniface and Robert Andrich’s goals placed Leverkusen, who play Atalanta in the Europa League final and the German Cup final this week, on track to win. Leverkusen was crowned champions for the first time in April.

Conversely, Union, which was competing in the Champions League against teams like Real Madrid as recently as December, found itself tied 1-1 against Freiburg at home in stoppage time and was guaranteed a relegation playoff matchup with Duesseldorf.
Michael Gspurning was sent off with four minutes left, reducing Union to ten men, but he scored a penalty right before stoppage time.
Janik Haberer was there to convert the rebound and preserve Berlin after Kevin Volland missed the spot-kick.

Eintracht Frankfurt overcame a two-goal deficit to tie RB Leipzig 2-2 at home, while Mainz overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Wolfsburg 3-1.
