While addressing Yen Nsempa on Accra’s Onua FM, Awuku stressed that Dr. Bawumia is still within a suitable time to make the news. For example, he used the choice of Dr. Bawumia as his running partner made by then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in August 2008 for that year’s election.

We are definitely on schedule. We still have time; Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was only elected six months ago. As you may remember, he was nominated in August of 2008. Thus, as far as the NPP is concerned, we are completely on schedule,” Awuku said.

The time frame could be three days from now, next week, month, or tomorrow. At this time, the flagbearer is confident about who his running mate will be and will make that announcement when he is prepared

Awuku further pointed out that John Dramani Mahama, the NDC flagbearer, will be Dr. Bawumia’s primary opponent in the next elections, not his running mate.

John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are competing. These are the two candidates who will appear on the ballot; we are familiar with them. He said his rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is the former president.

Sammi Awuku’s remarks coincide with a conjecture regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) and political experts’ reasons for delaying the announcement of a running partner.
