Christiano Ronaldo breaks new record at the euros at Germany on 22nd of June, 2024. Christiano Ronaldo record was set between the fixtures of Portugal vs Turkey.

The last football match Altay Bayindir played in a competitive setting was at Newport County, but it was more of a Rodney Trotter than a Rodney Parade.

The hilarious moment from the seldom-seen Manchester United custodian solidified Portugal’s victory in Group F and devastated the hordes of Turkish supporters who had travelled to Dortmund.

Despite the best efforts of Bayindir and Mehmet Celik, the defender Samet Akaydin’s backpass to an area his custodian had just cleared trickled across the line. Bayindir had raced from his goal but failed to connect with the defender.

Ironically, Cristiano Ronaldo’s failure to reach the heights Joao Cancelo had anticipated he would lead to this whole mess and Roberto Martinez had to justify his decision to start the 39-year-old forward prior to the game.

After the final-minute victory over the Czech Republic, Bernardo Silva had talked about the necessity to put more men in scoring positions to support Ronaldo. Seven minutes before Portugal’s hilarious second goal, he had decided to put his words into effect.

Left-back Nuno Mendes charged into the penalty area, and Silva of Manchester City was there to get the first goal when Orkun Kokcu’s touch pulled the ball away from the waiting Ronaldo.

Surprisingly, Turkey’s manager, Vincenzo Montella, made four changes to the team from their opening 3-1 victory over Georgia, including the addition of Bayindir.

If this was an attempt to rotate his team, it seemed to be working early on as Cancelo pulled Kerem Akturkoglu off balance just as he was about to convert Zeki Celik’s cross.

Turkey’s best player in the first half was Akturkoglu of Galatasaray, who, moments after Bayindir’s forgettable moment, drew an incredible save from Diogo Costa’s foot.

However, Turkey’s issues were in the back, and 11 minutes into the second half, the game was out of their hands. Ronaldo is no longer as fast as he once was, but he still had the speed to grab Silva’s excellent pass after Celik moved him onside.

Ronaldo chose to pass to Bruno Fernandes, who completed the task with a goal at the sixth European Championships in sight. This makes Ronaldo’s seven assists throughout the tournament the most in history.

The remainder of the game was largely about trying to get the captain the goal he’d passed up the opportunity to score, but Ronaldo mistimed his jump following a fine cross from the brilliant Silva.

After connecting with Ronaldo late in the game, Silva came dangerously close to capping an incredible performance with a second goal. Still, the match had long since ceased to be a fight and was often interrupted by lone fans swarming the pitch to take photos with Ronaldo.

He made accommodations for one little fan, treating him with the same consideration that Portugal’s defence team gave to Turkey.

At the end of the game, TURKEY 0-3 PORTUGAL: Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t find the net but Portugal breezed to a simple win over Turkey – as goalkeeper Altay Bayindir made a dreadful error.
