Manti Te’o was born and raised in Hawaii to Samoan parents Brian and Ottilia Te’o and is one of his parent’s six childrens. He is also the cousin of NFL player Malaki Te’o.

Manti Te’o began his NFL career in the Punaho high school where his contribution to the team during tournaments was highly commendable. He was well noted for his strong defensive tackling skills against the opponents which earned him the State Defensive Player of the Year and Gatorade State Player of the Year. Young Manti completed high school with a track record of 90 tackles, five sacks, 400 rushing yards, and ten touchdowns as a running back.

His performance wasn’t a flash in the saucepan as it was very consistent till high school completion then continued with it at the University of Notre Dame. At the University, his performance on the field of play was soo unmatched which saw him pick the Freshman All-American honors.

Due to recording over 100 defensive records during matches, Manti helped Notre Dame become one of the best institutions with defensive tackles. He left the school with several prestigious individual awards such as Butkus Award, the Lombardi Award, and the Walter Camp Award

professional career

Despite having a very consistent and enviable career from high school to the University level, Manti fell out of interest during the NFL drafting due to his 40-yard-dash time. He then signed a mouth-watering contract with San Diego Chargers worth over $5 million in 2013 with juicy match bonuses.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t impress in his first season due to being sidelined by injuries that took him out of action. His second season was also met with injuries which made him finish the season with only 61 tackles. After not being able to live up to expectations, due to his injury-prone state he left after being placed on the injured reserve list. Manti then signed for New Orleans Saints in 2017 but couldn’t perform well due to his reoccurring injury causing his contract not to be renewed after expiring.

His few plays also couldn’t give them a win matches. He then joined Chicago Bears’ practice squad in 2020 and was promoted to the first-team squad. After featuring in one match he was dropped back into the practice squad till his contract ended
