Early life

Rick was born in Texas to parents who both worked as tutors in the educational ministry, his dad at a point switched careers to become an estate agent. Unfortunately, his parents parted ways when he was still young leaving him to be raised fully by his mum although the dad was also supportive.

He had all his education in Texas graduating with a bachelor’s in English and History although he had wanted to become an instrumentalist from the start. His parents were also supportive of his career choice since they realized he was a smart chap.

Career

Rick after graduating followed in his parent’s footsteps and started life as an English and social studies tutor which he taught in several schools before branching into writing.

His first book attempt Big red tequila was well-received by book lovers and also won him two different awards. He then tried his hands at more books till his breakthrough came with the Percy Jackson & the Olympians book. Rick revealed his son Haley was the inspiration behind that book as he was a huge fan of Greek stories and had the idea during one of their discussion.
