Manchester United and Newcastle United goals highlights, The Red Devils defeated the Magpies in a fierce victory that narrowly preserved their chances of playing in Europe, averting the possibility of three straight losses.

Young players for Manchester United have preserved the Red Devils’ chances of qualifying for Europe after a 3-2 victory over Newcastle at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s team’s first goal came from Kobbie Mainoo, who took advantage of the visitors’ careless defense. Shortly after the interval, Anthony Gordon scored a spectacular equalizer for Newcastle.

Amad quickly restored the advantage with a similarly stunning effort, keeping the Magpies at bay. Then, to increase the lead, Rasmus Hojlund entered from the bench. Lewis Hall did threaten Newcastle’s late comeback with a spectacular stoppage-time goal. The Red Devils barely scraped by with a crucial three points.

Chelsea’s victory also moved Manchester United to eighth place in the standings going into the final day, when they must at least outperform Newcastle’s performance to guarantee a berth in Europe. They would lose if defeated in both the FA Cup final and the finale. The following are all of Old Trafford’s talking points:

Mainoo received a present.

One of Man United’s bright spots during a difficult season has been academy graduate Mainoo. The child has had an incredible season of breakthrough success.

Despite receiving much praise, he didn’t need much effort to score his fourth goal of the year. Halfway through the first half, the ball found its way to the midfield player in the center of the penalty area.

Kieran Trippier was terribly out of position; thus, Mainoo’s only job was finding his spot and shooting. It was the most accessible aim he had set for himself in his young career.

Casemiro demonstrates his defense value

Playing Casemiro in the center of defense hasn’t proven to be Ten Hag’s experiment—or need, for that matter—yet. When given extra defensive responsibilities, the Brazilian has faced some difficult situations.

Another challenging evening was predicted, especially with Alexander Isak, who is playing well, to watch out for against Newcastle. However, Casemiro’s outstanding performance silenced his skeptics.

After making a crucial tackle on Gordon, he cleared a Dan Burn header off the line in the first half. Though it’s encouraging to see Casemiro eventually settle into the position, Man United will undoubtedly want a more natural center defender moving forward.

VAR queries increase

Newcastle’s penalty decision raised doubts about VAR once more on the day when Premier League clubs decided to hold a vote about the technology’s future before the upcoming season. Gordon felt he should have been awarded a spot-kick after being brought down in the penalty area.

Sofyan Amrabat and Casemiro had to work together to stop him. The on-loan midfield player’s challenge was not as clean as the Brazilian’s.

He accidentally scraped Gordon’s Achilles tendon, and photos later revealed the Newcastle player with a hole in his sock. But neither the referee nor the VAR thought the challenge warranted a penalty.

Gordon equalizes with a nice blow.

Gordon eventually made an impression in a very short time. Minutes after the interval, the former Everton forward scored a well-deserved goal. He had a great game the entire night.

With an inch-perfect cross from Jacob Murphy, the forward clinically beat Andre Onana with a strike. In what has been a very successful season, it was his eleventh Premier League goal.

Steve Holland, Gareth Southgate’s right-hand man, was present, so Gordon would have hoped to have performed well enough to qualify for England.

First Premier League goal for Amad

Gordon’s goal was striking, but Amad’s goal to give the Red Devils the lead back was even more impressive. The ball dropped to the Ivorian as Newcastle attempted to defend a corner.

He launched an incredible attempt straight into the net without pausing. It might not be as famous as the FA Cup victory he scored over Liverpool, but the young player will never forget it.

It was his first-ever Premier League goal. After a successful season with Sunderland the previous year and a promising campaign with the Red Devils, Amad will undoubtedly want to improve the following year.

Even after Mainoo and Amad made it onto the scene, there was still time for another rising talent to make an impression. Hojlund had been on the bench to begin, but with minutes to go, he was brought on.

After winning possession of the ball on the area’s outskirts, he created some space for himself and skillfully found the bottom corner for his 15th goal of the year. Although he hasn’t always been consistent this season, he has made an impression and plans to build on that next season.
