Early life

Greg was raised in Indiana where he had his early and high school education. He discovered his passion for basketball at a very young age and was a key player in both his basic and high school teams.

Greg was highly recognized due to his swift style of playing and also his control of the ball when on the field. He also gave off splendid performances during his time at the Ohio State University.

It led to him earning many recognition and awards even at a young age which some of them were Parade’s High school co-player of the year,2006 Indiana Mr. basketball, and being featured on the Parade All-Americans team.

Career

Greg signed his first professional contract with the Portland Trailblazers, a signing which everyone was glad of but unfortunately he couldn’t give his best. Greg’s entire five years with the team were accidentally sidelined by a recurring knee injury that saw him out of the game so many times.

He then joined the Miami heats on a year deal, which was one of his happiest moments because he had the chance of playing with his look-alike Lebron James whom he regarded as one of the best in basketball.

He left after a year and joined the Chinese team Jiangsu dragons where he averaged 13.0 points,12.6 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game.

He then had his last stint with Scarlet &Gray before finally drawing the curtains down at a very young age due to his recurring knee problem.

After retirement, he did a few administrative works in basketball before finally taking up the role of director of basketball operations at the Butler Bulldog men’s basketball team.

Struggle with Alcoholism

Greg sunk into depression after not being able to reach the highest pinnacle in his career, to overcome that he resorted to drinking which he drank almost every day.

He would reminisce back to his active days on the court and how fast his carrier has sunk deep. It took the timely intervention of Coach Thadd Matta for motivated him not to give up on himself but should come around the court and watch games and also go to the gym. The piece of advice helped him to bounce back.

Assault on ex-girlfriend

During his most down moments, he did the craziest thing by punching his ex-girlfriend. The girl had visited Greg which an altercation erupted between them leading to him throwing a punch.

The police on reaching the scene saw the lady’s face disfigured with blood and cuts. A remorseful Greg was arrested and sent to prison. He had his charges dropped after pleading guilty and was made to undergo weeks of counseling.
