An attempt to break into Drake’s Toronto house. Authorities reported on Wednesday that a man was detained for trying to enter the same residence as musician Drake, just one day after a security guard stationed at the rapper’s Toronto home was wounded.
Officers were summoned to the house at around 2:00 p.m. local time “after a person attempted to gain access to the property,” Toronto Police Department public relations officer Ashley Visser said in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.
According to Visser’s statement, the individual was “apprehended” by Ontario’s Mental Health Act and “taken to obtain medical assistance.”
Instead of making an arrest, police officers may, under the Mental Health Act, place someone in custody who they have grounds to think is acting erratically and may be suffering from a mental illness.
According to the authorities, there isn’t any connection between yesterday’s shooting and this occurrence. It was not immediately clear if Drake or anyone else was inside the house on Wednesday when the event occurred.
There have been two incidents at Drake’s house in the last two days.
During a press conference on Tuesday, Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk stated that a security guard stationed outside Drake’s apartment was shot and subsequently sent to the hospital in critical condition.
When questioned at the time if the shooting had anything to do with Drake’s recent dispute with another rapper, Kendrick Lamar, Krawczyk responded that a motive had not yet been established.
Drake is among the all-time greatest-selling recording artists and has five Grammy awards. His hit songs, including “Nice For What,” “God’s Plan,” and “One Dance,” are well-known.
Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s public dispute has escalated recently due to their respective songs’ personal and professional digs at one another, which have sparked online discussion among their fan bases.
